Overdose is the project of the Czech creative group called Midware Studios. It is a modification that has outgrown the original add on format up to the eponymous arcade shooter. Overdose is the direct heir of Serious Sam and Painkiller. The game is a kind of bridge between the first and second parts of the game, the mod that has already reached the status of self-esteem. It, of course, will appeal to the fans of these projects, alas, doomed to a long wait for the sequels.

New game or modification of old one?
The plot of the game is Beliar's revenge, the rejected son of heaven and hell, to all and everything. Reviving the old book at the beginning of the game, titles, menus, from the first seconds set up an action in the diabolical entourage. The magnificent images of the opening roller are simply charming, and their presentation is impressive. The awe-inspiring story half demon semi-angel, very reminiscent of the player old friends of the heroes of the games, akin to this one. Even more impressive is that the action of the first level takes place in the city of Pompeii. This fact not only adds epic but also inspires awe to the once great city of the Roman Empire.
The plot ends on revenge and the player does not need it at all, it is almost useless. However, the idea itself, explaining our excesses in hell, was realized very successfully. In many ways, perhaps, the revenge defined the fate of the project, without it, the game might not exist. Maybe it's the appeal of the whole other world, such as a poltergeist and a UFO? In general, Overdose is fresh and worthy of the progenitor’s games.
Through the infernal decorations of the new levels, (by the way, seventeen), the outlines of the old ones are clearly visible (the mod is a mod). Nevertheless, the game is still fresh and new.

The old classic shooter
The main principle of the game is unchanged. Running through the arenas, defending themselves from the army of enemies. This continues the whole game, from the previous to the next checkpoint. And how do not actually furnish all this with a beautiful idea, a new original hero, a strange weapon - the goal of every action is unchanged - to knock out of the player the desire to press the trigger. And this desire arises, lives the whole game, and does not intend to disappear because there is enough cannon fodder in the game, so the developers succeeded in the main thing.
Stupidly to shoot from the local weapons still will not work, (you need skill) will have to use the brain. The skills of infernal warfare open their arms not at once, they appear with experience, with "man-hours". The density of military operations gradually trains and hardens Beliar, who has become unaccustomed to the hellish martial art and at the same time a gamer. It's the same old good Painkiller, talented updated and presented in an unexpected foreshortening.
